On December 13th, the Islip Animal Shelter is hosting their annual Holiday Toy Drive to support their shelter residents.
The shelter, located in Central Islip on 200 Technology Dr., is hosting the toy drive that Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
“This event is a HUGE turnout to our community. We use our donations year-round and some even last us until the next year!” Assistant Supervisor of the Islip Animal Shelter, Jessica, said. “Our wishlist items change yearly depending on what’s needed for our furry friends. This year, because we have so many bunnies and guinea pigs, our wishlist primarily revolves around them.”
Some of the wishlist items include dog/cat toys and treats, bunny treats/toys, collars & leashes, and finally “Fur-ever” homes. They will have a collection bin located inside the lobby for easy drop-off.
“If some of our donations have recent expiration dates, we donate to two major pet food pantries: Nobody Starves on Long Island and Long Island Cares.”
