On Monday, November 17, East Islip Wrestling practices started up signaling the start of a new season.
The wrestling practices for EIHS are held every day in the Wrestling Room right near the main gym. “Practice is good. Everyone is working hard and doing lots of conditioning the first week,” Junior Gabe Williams said. “But it’ll get better and more fun over time.”
One of the captains, Griffyn Alfalla thinks the season will go well and he thinks that they have a chance to win counties. The way that they could win counties is they have to focus, lock in, and take practice seriously.
The wrestling team captains are Griffyn Alfalla, Matt D’Amico, Rocco DeStefano, Christian Horeis, Noah Hodge, and Brian Csoban. They will be leading the team this year.
EIHS Wrestlers have high expectations for the season. Junior, Ty Strychalsky, hopes to go all county. Captain Griffyn Alfalla hopes to be an all-state qualifier and hopefully be county champ. Junior Gabe Williams hopes to be an elite champ and go all county.
The first tournament is on December 6, 2025 and the first meet is the following Wednesday.
