The East Islip JV football team finished their season with a record of 5-2-1 and playing with a physical brand of football every game. The JV team had a successful season and had fun along the way.
The team’s five wins came against Bellport, Commack, Smithtown East, Huntington and Northport. East Islip’s JV team’s only loss two games to North Babylon and Hills East. The game against Connetquot was the best game from the JV team where they put up the hardest fight they had the whole year and it ended up in a tie.
“The guys would goof off but we still got stuff done and you know,” freshman Chris Varulo said. “We won a lot. That’s also fun.” This perfectly recaps the JV season.
The JV boys started off the season during summer workouts in the hot July weather stretching all the way into the cold late October weather. Most workouts and practices stretched to around three hours. The JV teams practice consisted of offense, defense, punt team, punt return, kickoff and kick return preparing the team for anything they would need to do in a game.
“The JV looks to continue the historic tradition created here in East Islip as players move on to the Varsity program, where they hope to succeed at the highest level,” Coach Sconone said.
