CATCH the EIHS Musical IF YOU CAN
The musical is this weekend. Here’s what you need to know!
On March 23-March 25, the East Islip High School’s Music Department is putting on its latest performance. The play is called Catch Me If You Can and will be a jazz musical.
Here is a quick summary:
Catch Me If You Can follows the main plot of the movie (which is based on a true story): it’s about a high schooler following in father’s footsteps as a con artist. He basically poses as different people, a lawyer, pilot, and bank teller to name a few. He is followed by an FBI agent who is trying to catch him but, he evades the FBI every time.
If you are looking for a reason to go, here’s what some people involved had to say about the show.
Tristan Hearth, a senior who is playing Carl Hanratty, says “I think that the play captures all the emotions. You’ll laugh, you’ll feel sad and you’ll feel everything.”
In a similar way, senior Kelly Waldron (one of the “Frank Abagnale singers”) says “It’s a fun energic show, that makes you feel good.”
While you will see the star-studded cast on stage, there are also some stars behind the scenes. Members of the stage crew and the pit orchestra have also been putting in a lot of time on the show. Lucas Antunes, a member of the stage crew, says “It has been a lot, but it will be worth it.”
Mr. Neske agrees. “The stage crew built an awesome set, the pit is working really hard and playing some great music, and the cast is just acting their butts off, they’re doing a great job up there. Every part of the show is just really fanastatic.”
The show is running this Thursday (7pm), Friday (7pm), and Saturday (2pm) in Rydzeski Hall at EIHS. You can purchase your tickets in person for $20 or at EIHSBoxoffice.com for $18.
