EIHS Is Filling The Morning With Music
Music playing over the loudspeaker before first period is one of the newest traditions here at East Islip High School. From “The Cha Cha Slide” to themed music for upcoming holidays, the loudspeaker’s tunes have been waking students up since the start of the school year. Mrs. Lopiccolo stated that the Student Government started this tradition to answer the question “How can we make school more fun?”
“The middle school actually has music when you walk in,” she describes, “so we thought about that and said ‘Why is it at the middle school and not here?’” The Student Government has also taken measures to improve upon the middle school’s methods, by playing music over the entire PA system rather than just by the bus entrance. Bringing this new and improved routine to the high school was the Student Government’s way of providing a bit of enjoyment for the students in the earliest hours of their day.
When asked what song she would like to hear in the morning, Mrs. Lopiccolo ecstatically declared, “Country On!” by Luke Bryan.
That being said, I think it’s important to represent some of the student’s favorite songs during this pre-class concert. So, I reached out to multiple students and teachers here at the high school to compile a list of their top picks to be played in the morning.
