The East Islip boys soccer team’s amazing season came to an end on October 26th. The season started off strong with the team winning their first game against Hills East and concluding the season with an unfortunate loss against Comsewogue.
The EI boys soccer team, playing strong, had a total of eight wins for the season. The team played well as they were up against seven teams in the division making it to the playoffs. During the playoffs the team lost 2-0.
“The boys played very well this season,” a parent of a varsity player said. “Despite their playoff loss they finished off strong.”
Some notable players that helped push the team to the playoffs are Marcus Duncan, Anthony Mariani, Matt Benvenides, and Jayden Torres. Their efforts for their team did not go unnoticed.
Senior, Anthony Mariani, is only one out of the five seniors that played on the team this season and experienced an emotional end to the season. “It was sad to see the seniors leave and have a lot of potential to do better this year and not reach it,” junior Marcus Duncan said.
Throughout the season there were a multitude of injuries for the players that took place that made the team come back stronger every time. Overall the team played very well and will go back to training to come back even stronger for the next season.
