On November 4th, the East Islip Seniors participated in the Senior Banquet at the Irish Coffee Pub. The event was held to celebrate senior year, share a meal, and announce the winners of many senior superlatives.
One of the main purposes of the Senior Banquet was to share a large dinner which had various options. Some of these options were chicken, steak and tuna for meats, and a vegetable salad and pasta for side dishes. In terms of desserts, there was ice cream and a brownie for everyone. Most people were able to have a little bit of everything.
The East Islip Seniors all prepared for the Senior Banquet by wearing at least one of the school colors, being red, white, and black. Everyone who arrived looked stunning and made the event special.
Kiersten Galli, a senior who attended the banquet, explained that she liked the senior banquet because she enjoyed the food and thought that “the superlatives were cool.”
Superlatives are awards given to seniors who have large and different achievements, according to other students. Some examples that the school used include having the nicest eyes or being the most well-rounded.
Everybody who won had to take a photo on the dance floor for the yearbook, one by themselves and one with the other person who won the superlative, if two people won. More photos will be taken by people who won on a later date to be included in the yearbook.
Although there was a dance floor, nobody was in the mood to dance unless a large group of seniors were dancing alongside them. Therefore, people in small numbers only danced for three songs in total.
Another senior said that she “had fun, but it felt a bit lackluster for how much it was.”
Overall, everyone had fun eating together and finding out who won senior superlatives in order to celebrate senior year.
