Halloween is here and that means the horror genre is finally back. Need some Halloween horror movies to get you excited for the season? Here are the top five horror movies to watch before Halloween.

Trick ‘r Treat (2007)

Trick ‘r Treat is a horror anthology about a small town and when some of the characters break the traditional Halloween rules, a trick-or-treating demon named Sam makes them pay.  It is a good movie to watch before Halloween because it involves a bunch of trick-or-treaters and it’s a good movie to watch before you go trick-or-treating.

Annabelle (2014)

Annabelle is a horror film, based off of the real Annabelle doll, about a couple who owns a doll that is possessed by a demon. The doll tries to take one of their souls. It is a good movie to watch before Halloween because it is very good horror and will get you into the Halloween mood.

Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023)

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a survival horror movie, based off of the FNAF video games. The movie is about a security guard working in a pizzeria with animatronics and he soon realizes that they come to life at night and he must try to survive five nights. This is a good movie to watch before Halloween because the game is very scary and popular and so is the movie and there is also a second one coming out in December.

Scream (1996)

Scream is a classic slasher horror movie about these high school students who try to survive Ghostface, the killer, while trying to figure out who is behind the mask. This is another good movie to watch for Halloween because it is a very good horror slasher and the ghost face mask is a very popular Halloween costume and mask. Jake Maloney states it is his favorite because, “It is the most iconic and interesting movie and is very funny.”

Slenderman (2018)

Slenderman is a horror movie based off of the myth about Slenderman, about a group of friends who try to get back their missing friend who was taken by Slenderman when they summoned him. This is another great movie for Halloween because it is about the myth of Slenderman, a demon, which has to do with horror and Halloween.
